How do I get to the Giraffe Centre?

You will locate the Giraffe Centre on Nyumbi Road, off Duma Road in Nairobi’s Lang’ata suburb. We are fifteen Kilometers from Nairobi’s City Centre. Google Maps will  lead you right to our doorstep.

What time do you open?

We are open from 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM every day including weekends and all public holidays. For School visits, we ask that you book your free visit one week in advance through our Contact Us page.

What forms of payment can I use?

We only accept payment via M-pesa, Visa or Mastercard.

How much do I pay to enter the Giraffe Centre?

You can support our work by simply visiting us and getting to know the giraffes. Our rates are as follows:

  1. Non-Resident Adults – Ksh. 1,500 (approx. $15.00)

  2. Non-Resident Children – Ksh. 750 (approx. $7.50)

  3. Resident Adults – Ksh. 400

  4. Resident Children – Ksh. 200

  5. Free for Children under 3 yrs of age

Please note that we are only taking payments via Credit card, Debit card or MPESA Payments.

From what ages do you consider your children’s rates?

Children are between three to 12 years. Students below 23 years with a valid Student identification Card (ID) from a recognised learning institution also pay this amount.

What kind of identification is sufficient to qualify as a resident?

To qualify as a resident you will need to provide Kenyan or East African identification. We accept the regular ID, passport or alien card.

What are your peak hours?

Our busiest times are between 11 AM to 1 PM on weekdays. Weekends and public holidays are busy throughout the day.

How long should we factor to spend at the centre?

For a fulfilling experience, we recommend you plan for a 1.5 to two hour visit. This gives you enough time to feed and interact with the giraffes, attend an informative lecture on the giraffe and other wildlife, take a walk in our serene Nature Conservancy and even have a snack at our Tea House.

Can I purchase a gift card or gift certificate?

Sure you can. Ask for any of these at our gift shop and our attendant will assist you.

How can I help support the work you do?

90 percent of funds collected from the entrance fees and sales in our gift shop and Tea House go  towards our conservation work. By visiting us and/or making a purchase from our shop and the Teahouse, you contribute towards educating school children and teachers across Kenya. We encourage you to consider a tip for your guide. All our guides are Environmental Studies students who volunteer as Educators. If you wish to give towards a school trip or our other efforts, our Donation Page will give you more information.

Why should I sign up for your newsletter?

Giraffe News is the best way to find out what we are involved in. Expect information regarding major highlights, our day-to-day activities, upcoming events, and of course, how Daisy and friends have been keeping.
